If you have an interest in history and various aspects of how the land of Lincolnshire is drained, then why not book a place on this full day Conference to take place in Boston on Saturday 16th November.

In addition to talks, the event will include a guided walk along the waterside at Boston and the chance to see some historical film depicting how the land of Lincolnshire is drained. An illustrated talk on the work and history of an internal drainage board will be presented by Martin Shilling Director of Engineering & Technical Services Witham & Humber Drainage Boards.

Neil Wright of the SLHA Industrial Archaeology Team will lead a walk along the waterfront at Boston. After lunch, a talk on the Keadby Terminal Assisted Outfall Project will explore how 15,761 properties and critical infrastructure on the Isle of Axholme were at risk if the Keadby pumping station failed. The refurbishment of the station and how it was kept operational whilst this was underway will be given by Phil Walker-Chief Civil engineer for Binnies UK.

From Bog and Marsh to some of the Finest Farmland in the Country is the theme of some historic films of Lincolnshire’s Land Drainage in action, presented by Lincolnshire Film Archive. You are very welcome to book a place for the Conference.
