Take a journey back to Medieval Boston and celebrate International Hanseatic Day on Saturday 31st May in Boston.

Boston Hanse Group celebrates Internation Hanseatic Day on Saturday 31st May in Boston with a selection of fantastic medieval displays including a traditionally themed medieval market, forge, Medieval food Spinners & Woodcarvers.

Leading up to the big day, artist Donna Fox will be running free silk painting batik workshops where you can help create stunning, heritage-inspired flags. These will be proudly paraded in a colourful finale of the event, enhanced by some of Donna’s larger costumes.

Here’s what you can expect on the day:

  • Grand Parade at 12:30pm
  • Live drumming led by musician and artist Chris Lewis-Jones
  • Make a simple sheep ear headband with Ruth Pigott
  • Dance performances choreographed by Beth Williams
  • Medieval entertainment, including a jester and the Lincoln Waites musicians
  • A bustling medieval village with crafts such as mosaics, bow-making, woodcarving, spinning, and a forge
  • Medieval food and beer
